Melatonin As A Sleep Aid - How To Make It, Not How to Take It

Taking melatonin supplements has not been helpful to me in my quest for better sleep. I have tried different amounts, different brands and time released melatonin. Little did I know at that time that I could influence my own production of melatonin.

There were things I was doing at night AND during the day that suppressed my melatonin secretions and contributed to a less than good night's sleep.

Melatonin is a hormone and a powerful antioxidant. It actually serves lots of different purposes than just helping one to sleep better - like reducing one's risk of cancer and improving one's mood.

Light at night suppresses the production of this important hormone - but that doesn't mean you have to walk around in the dark.
