Hello

Keep Your iPhone or Smart Phone Out of the Bedroom

One a recent plane trip I was sitting next to a business man who asked me what I was reading. At the time I was reading a book about female hormones and sleep, so we started talking about sleep and good sleep practices.

He confessed that he knew alot about good sleep hygiene but he just didn't have the discipline to put what he knew to work.

One "sleep interrupter" he engaged in was bringing his iPhone into the bedroom. When he woke up in the middle of the night he would use his phone to check what time it was, which is bad enough because the blue light from the screen shuts down melatonin production, but he would also quickly check his email. AND then felt compelled to respond to unanswered ones!

No wonder he had problems with sleep. True rest requires rest from electronics and the need to keep checking text messages, voice mail, email, etc. Shutting down your mind is as important as shutting down your electronics.

Be more productive during the day with a better night's sleep. Electronic devices are sleep disrupters not just because they get your mind too stimulated but because of the blue light they emit that interferes with melatonin production. Taking a melatonin supplement can't help. Find out how to protect your sleep and natural production of melatonin here:
