Teen Insomnia - What Are the Consequences?

According to many sleep specialists, teens need 9 hours of sleep. Did you get that? Nine hours. That means if you go to bed at 10:00 PM you would need to sleep until 7:00 AM to get your full 9 hours. The UCLA Sleep Center confirms that it's true .... teens need more sleep than adults.

They are still growing and developing, which means that adequate, restful sleep is an important component to their physical, mental and emotional well being. Did you know that teens with inadequate sleep can be misdiagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder ADHD? That's because the signs of lack of sleep are much the same, such as

inability to concentrate

agitated or nervous

inability to control emotions
